Activities
On the left bank of Vecgauja, a paved walking trail stretches from Stacijas iela to Jūras iela. The concept of the Path of Lives is embedded in the pattern of the trail pavement.
At the beginning of the walk, it is possible to see Festival Square and the sculpture “Remembering” made by Vilnis Titāns , as well as try to see the portal of lampreys on your mobile phone, which can be done by looking for information boards with the QR code “Lampreys are coming”. This augmented reality object was created by artist Gints Gabrāns.
We also recommend taking a picture at the environmental object “Carnikava”.
The gray wooden building visible in the park is the home of the local Lutheran church which is called Boat House. In the middle part of the trail, there is a well-equipped rest area with picnic tables, a changing cabin and a toilet (at the end of Atputas iela).
Start/end: Stacijas iela 21, Carnikava
Length/time: 1.3 km (10-15 min) one way
Difficulty: Easy
Important to know!
Alternative routes:
- crossing Jūras iela straight, you can continue along the protected nature along Vecgauja until it crosses Vecgauja over a small bridge and past Carnikavas elementary school, through the historical manor park to return to Stacijas iela 21.
- go along Jūras iela to the Carnikava promenade, which is a 2 km long paved path that leads to the very seashore. The total length of the walk from Carnikava pedestrian-cyclist bridge to the sea and back would be ~ 8 km.
- crossing Vecgauja via the pedestrian bridge (behind Atpūtas iela) and visiting Carnikava local history center.
