Route:
CLC → Gauja River → Pārcēlāju Street → Laivu Street → Firing Point → Herring Road → Carnikava Promenade → Jomas Street → CLC
The route begins at the Carnikava Local History Centre and follows a scenic forest trail along the Gauja River to Pārcēlāju Street, where you turn left and continue straight to the intersection with Laivu Street. From there, the route follows the roadside to the Laivu Street parking area, where you can visit one of the Latvian Army coastal defence fortifications from the 1920s–1930s, located on a small forest hill.
Continuing along Laivu Street, you will reach a forest trail and the so-called “Herring Road” – a worn path through the dunes running parallel to the sea. Turning left, the route continues directly to the Carnikava Promenade, where you turn left again and continue to the end of the promenade near the parking area.
From there, the route follows Laivu Street, turning right at the intersection onto Jomas Street, and concludes back at the Carnikava Local History Centre.
