We invite you to take an informative walk through Ādaži and, accompanied by an audio guide, discover the town’s history during the Soviet period. The circular route starts and ends in the centre of Ādaži, allowing you to explore, at a leisurely pace, places and stories connected with an important period in the town’s development.
Modern-day Ādaži began to take shape in the 1960s around what is now Līgo Square. At that time, Ādaži was closely connected with a collective farm that existed for 41 years and had a significant impact on both the development of the local area and the lives of many people.
During the walk, you will learn how Ādaži developed during the Soviet period, when the collective farm and later the “Ādaži” agro-firm established extensive production, including fur farming, bread production, and horticulture, as well as developing important public facilities. Ādaži was developed as a model agricultural enterprise and was also presented to foreign visitors.
The route offers an insight not only into the town’s architecture and history, but also into everyday life, social activities, and economic development during the Soviet era.
The route includes:
- “Kukulītis” – Meeting Place
- The Old Culture House and the Collective Farm Manager’s Office
- The Old Post Office Building and Soviet-Era Sculpture
- Pizzeria and Market
- Sports Complex
- DOSI
- Ādaži Secondary School
- Fur Farm
- “Kauls” Bridge
