Gauja Festival in \u0100da\u017ei<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2010, the Gauja Festival in \u0100da\u017ei has become the largest and most anticipated event in the municipality. It is dedicated to all local residents and visitors \u2014 to everyone connected by the Gauja River, nature, and a shared sense of community.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival traditionally takes place on May 24<\/strong>, marking the start of summer with a vibrant 24-hour program featuring music, sports, markets, creative activities, and concerts. At its heart is a strong sense of togetherness \u2014 an opportunity to gather, celebrate, and embrace the identity of the municipality and the beauty of the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to its diverse program, the festival attracts thousands of visitors<\/strong> each year. Everyone is invited to be part of this celebration \u2014 to see, hear, taste, and feel<\/strong> it for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival is organized by the \u0100da\u017ei Culture Center with the support of the \u0100da\u017ei Municipality.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Carnikava Lamprey Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year on the third Saturday of August, Carnikava hosts the Lamprey Festival \u2014 a major cultural and culinary event that celebrates local fishing traditions and the unique taste of lamprey. The festival draws thousands of visitors with a rich program for all ages.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the celebration is lamprey fishing<\/strong>, a tradition that has been preserved in Carnikava for centuries. \u201cCarnikavas n\u0113\u0123i\u201d (Carnikava lampreys) are even included in the European Union\u2019s Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) list<\/strong>, recognizing their distinctive quality and heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the festival, visitors can enjoy a giant pot of lamprey soup<\/strong>, take part in tastings and culinary workshops, and explore the history of lamprey fishing at the Carnikava Local History Center<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
