Serious Comedy \u201cAll In!\u201d<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Some people draw, some sing, others play the piano, climb mountains, ride bicycles, or go on long walks. Everyone enjoys life in their own way and according to their abilities. But when life takes an unexpected turn and throws you overboard, forcing you to find a solution in middle age, you can easily find yourself at a dead end.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When you head to the bank determined to ask for a loan, only to be turned down because you are too old, have neither a guarantor nor collateral, and helplessness is already weighing heavily on your shoulders, threatening to bring you to your knees, desperation may drive you to look the bank director straight in the eye and say:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you don\u2019t give me the loan, I\u2019ll seduce your wife and sleep with her.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a truly gripping survival battle between two actors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorking with Jordi Galceran\u2019s brilliantly written play Uz visu banku!<\/em> (original title El cr\u00e8dit<\/em> \/ The Credit<\/em>), I have always been drawn, as a director, to the opportunity to dig deeper than the surface. And when you manage to reach the very core, the result is almost always far more rewarding. This time is no exception.<\/p>\n

Moreover, creating the production together with two of the leading actors of their generation \u2013 Artis Robe\u017enieks and Normunds Laiz\u0101ns \u2013 has been not only an unprecedented experience, but also a creative challenge. Both masters have devoted the best years of their lives to the stage and know their craft inside out, bringing their own invaluable contribution to our collaboration.<\/p>\n

This play is cunning \u2013 in the best possible sense, of course. It entertains, shakes you up, and asks questions. Our jointly chosen description of the genre, \u201cserious comedy,\u201d<\/strong> is no coincidence. It allows us to talk about serious matters through humour \u2013 and, conversely, to find humour in serious matters.\u201d<\/p>\n
