A Seven-Day Silent Retreat with Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche to Take Place in Latvia in October<\/strong><\/h1>\n

From October 10 to 17, 2026<\/strong>, Latvia will host a seven-day silent retreat and Ripa Awareness Meditation (RAM)<\/strong> practice. The retreat will be led by His Eminence Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche<\/strong>, spiritual head of the Ripa Buddhist tradition, together with senior RAM instructor and mindfulness teacher Genevi\u00e8ve Hamelet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The seven-day programme will focus on silence, meditation, mindfulness, and working with the mind and emotions. Instead of the rush of everyday life, participants will have the opportunity to turn their attention towards inner peace, presence, and deeper self-exploration through the practice of Shamatha and Vipassana meditation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The retreat programme includes daily guided RAM meditation sessions, teachings by Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche, guidance and practical support from Genevi\u00e8ve Hamelet, periods of silence, as well as time for reflection and integrating the experience. The retreat will take place in a nature-surrounded setting by a lake.<\/p>\n

Ripa Awareness Meditation (RAM)<\/strong> is a contemporary meditation method rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. It combines Shamatha<\/strong> practice, which develops mental stability and clarity, with Vipassana<\/strong>, which focuses on directly observing experience and inner processes. The method is also designed for everyday life and helps develop emotional balance, presence, and the ability to work consciously with thoughts and emotions.<\/p>\n

Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche<\/strong> is the spiritual head of the Ripa tradition and an internationally recognised meditation teacher. He leads temples and retreat centres in Europe and Asia, as well as monasteries in India and Nepal. Since 1996, he has been developing Buddhist centres in several European countries and Japan. His approach adapts traditional Buddhist teachings to the needs of modern everyday life.<\/p>\n

Genevi\u00e8ve Hamelet<\/strong> is an experienced RAM instructor and a long-time student of Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche. She is also an MBSR instructor and trainer certified by UMass Medical School and Brown University, and is involved in international mindfulness organisations and initiatives.<\/p>\n

The retreat is open both to people with previous meditation experience and to those who are just beginning to explore meditation. Participation in this retreat is also a prerequisite for those who wish to continue their studies in the Certified RAM Teacher Training Path<\/strong> programme in the future.<\/p>\n
