Adazi Municipality

Ādaži Municipality is located in the northeastern part of the Pierīga region, where the Gulf of Riga meets the Gauja River, the longest river in Latvia. Its strategic location, well-developed infrastructure, and balance between nature and modern living make it one of the most attractive places to live and grow in Latvia.

The municipality is home to over 24,000 residents, spread across three administrative units: the town of Ādaži, Ādaži Parish, and Carnikava Parish. Since July 2021, when the former municipalities of Ādaži and Carnikava were merged, the local government now covers an area of 243.3 km² — a place where nature, people, and development are equally valued.

Ādaži Municipality borders the regions of Saulkrasti, Sigulda, and Ropaži, and is directly connected to Riga via the electrified railway line and the A1/E67 highway, ensuring convenient access to the capital and the rest of the country.

Ādaži Municipality Coat of Arms

The coat of arms of Ādaži Municipality, approved on January 27, 2022, is the first coat of arms to be officially registered in Latvia following the 2021 administrative-territorial reform. Its visual story was created with respect for the municipality’s geography, natural heritage, and the people who form this community.

The coat of arms combines symbols that reflect the municipality’s identity and natural diversity:

  • Gold and silver signify the municipality’s nobility, integrity, and respectful attitude toward nature and society.
  • The blue wedge symbolizes the confluence of the Gauja River with the Gulf of Riga, as well as the initial letter “Ā” of the municipality’s name.
  • The Lobelia dortmanna, a protected aquatic plant found in the municipality’s lakes, represents natural wealth, family values, and balance.
